This summer, America is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 250 years since our nation's founding. As I reflect on that anniversary, I'm reminded that strong communities endure because people invest their time, talent and passion in something larger than themselves.
Minnesota PRSA has its own rich history. For more than 75 years, our chapter has brought communicators together to learn, lead, mentor and advance the profession. This past month reminded me just how powerful that legacy truly is.
In June, we experienced both profound loss and meaningful celebration. We said goodbye to Margaret Ann Hennen, APR, Fellow PRSA—a treasured leader, mentor and friend whose influence on our chapter and profession will be felt for generations. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the example she set through a life of service, ethics and generosity. Margaret Ann was among the first to raise her hand in support of the 2026 PRSA Midwest District Conference, just as she did when Minnesota hosted the event in 2022. She believed deeply in showing up, giving back and investing in the profession. As in so many things, she led by example.
That spirit was evident throughout the 2026 PRSA Midwest District Conference, “Bold Communicators in the Bold North.” Thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers, sponsors, speakers and attendees, Minnesota PRSA hosted an exceptional event that showcased the very best of our profession and our chapter.
The conference also provided an opportunity to celebrate one of our own. Congratulations to Eva Keiser, APR, Fellow PRSA, recipient of the PRSA Midwest District Platinum Award, the district's highest individual honor. The award recognizes her decades of leadership, service, mentorship and commitment to advancing public relations. (Importantly, Margaret Ann was instrumental in developing the nomination.)
And the future of our profession was on display as well. Through PR North, we welcomed students and emerging professionals, creating opportunities for learning, connection, mentorship and inspiration.
As we begin the second half of the year, my ask is simple: continue investing in our profession and in one another. That spirit has sustained Minnesota PRSA for more than 75 years—and it will carry us forward for many more.
