Celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month and Older Americans Month

In May, we observe two important recognitions: Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, and Older Americans Month.

AANHPI Heritage Month

Celebrated nationally in May since 1977, AANHPI Heritage Month recognizes the rich history and contributions of AANHPI communities.

The theme for 2026 is “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together.” According to the Federal Asian Pacific American Council, the theme “…highlights the importance of leveraging our collective power, telling our stories and being bridge builders in our communities. The imagery of the bridge in this year’s artwork inspires us to unite in our common causes. Bridges represent many values that are prevalent in AANHPI communities - innovation, resilience, hard work, connection, and a sense of belonging.” (Source: https://fapac.org/AAPI-Resources)

Older Americans Month

Celebrated every May to recognize the contributions, vitality and resilience of older adults, this year’s Older Americans Month theme is “Champion Your Health.” Led by the Administration for Community Living, the theme focuses on promoting prevention, wellness and personal responsibility, encouraging seniors to take an active role in their health and independence.

Did you know that since 2025, PRSA has offered a Seasoned Professional Affinity Group for PR pros aged 50-plus with at least ten years of experience—whether active, nearing retirement or already retired.
